Words Matter. December 7, 1941 Pearl Harbor

Today, December 7th, is National Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day. The day Japan attacked Hawaii in 1941.
At the Pearl Harbor Memorial, a copy of President Roosevelt’s edited speech to Congress asking that war be declared on Japan shows the first line was changed from “a date that will live in world history” to what is now his famous line “a date that will live in infamy.”
Words are important when a nation is in crisis. Words can join us together as a nation or pull us apart.
